Stop the State from Raising Your Electric Bill: Take Action Now

Senate Bill 31 would give Georgia Power the right to raise your electric bill THIS YEAR for construction on two new nuclear reactors that may not be completed for a DECADE. This is unprecedented.

Take Action Now: Tell the State House Energy Committee to VOTE NO ON Senate Bill 31, Fill our the form below to send an email to the Committee.

In the past, every electric company has always paid for construction costs like any good, responsible company would do, as part of capital operations and planning. But this year, Georgia Power is attempting to pass the buck on to you the consumer.

Take Action Now: Tell the State House Energy Committee to VOTE NO on Senate Bill 31, Fill our the form below to send an email to the Committee.

Why is Georgia Power doing this? Because they refuse to use the Public Service Commission, our duly elected utility representatives, to ask for a rate increase. Fearing that the Commission will say NO, Georgia Power is seeking to circumvent the citizens of this state by going around the PSC and getting the State Legislature to do the dirty work for them.

Take Action Now: Tell the State House Energy Committee to VOTE NO on Senate Bill 31, Fill our the form below to send an email to the Committee.

Sample Talking Points For Your Email

Dear State Representatives,

I urge you to VOTE NO on Senate Bill 31. Georgia Power should do what is right and ask the Public Service Commission for a rate hike on consumers like me.

In this economy, it is simply not right that Georgia Power is going around the Public Service Commission and asking the State Legislature to raise my electric bills to fund a project years off in completion.

Again, please vote NO on Senate Bill 31.

Sincerely,
