2009 Legislative Session Wrap
Huge Budget cuts, a transportation fiasco, closures of rail and bus service at MARTA, and a host of other blunders and bad legislation were tempered with major victories for worker rights, passage of part-time unemployment benefits, and better mental health services for abused children.
All-in-all, the 2009 Legislative Session proved that Republicans do not have the ability to govern, partcularly in the areas of Education, Transportation & the Economy. Democrats stood firm on many issues affecting all these areas and more, and we proved once again that our Party is the ONLY Party concerned with the well-being of ALL Georgians.
Thank you to all the Young Democrats who attended Capitol Days, wrote, called and emailed your legislators, and generally kept the pressure on the Assembly to Do The Right Things. As in the Election of 2008, Young People, Young Democrats, are coming out in record numbers to take action on issues affecting all of us, every day.
